The College of Computer Science and Mathematics is holding a dialogue session on women’s equality.

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Professor Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah Al-Bazzaz, the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics and the Human Rights Unit at the University of Mosul, held a dialogue session entitled “Women’s Journey Towards Equity: Equality or Justice?” on Monday, December 22, 2025, in the college auditorium.

The session, moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Suzan Hassan Mohammed, Head of the Human Rights Unit, addressed the concepts of justice and equality as complementary, not contradictory, principles. It emphasized that formal equality alone is insufficient to achieve equity, and that justice is the foundation for building a balanced society that treats both women and men fairly.

The session aimed to clarify the fundamental differences between the concepts of justice and equality, analyze the impact of each on women’s lives, discuss relevant legal and social experiences, and propose a balanced vision that contributes to achieving gender equity, in line with the relevant Sustainable Development Goals.
