Students from the College of Computer Science and Mathematics Participate in the German-Iraqi Week

Affirming the role of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics and the University of Mosul in supporting scientific projects, students from the college at the University of Mosul participated in the “German-Iraqi Week” held at Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, as part of the project to digitize the cultural heritage of the Al-Jubayish Marshes.
The college was represented by student Munther Ahmed Abdul-Ilah from the Department of Computer Science and student Ahmed Sinan Haider from the Department of Software Engineering, accompanied by Assistant Professor Dr. Basim Mohammed, Head of the Department of Computer Science. The event included participation from teams from several Iraqi universities, as well as specialized workshops and training sessions.
The students received intensive practical training on the latest 3D scanning and digitization technologies, which was implemented at the National Museum in Brandenburg. Dr. Basim Mohammed also participated in a specialized workshop within the program. The University of Mosul team distinguished itself by presenting 14 accurate 3D models of digital copies of the museum’s collection. At the conclusion of the events, the team was honored by the President of the German University in recognition of their outstanding efforts. A lecture on the project’s achievements was also presented at the Iraqi Embassy in Berlin, confirming the university’s role in supporting scientific and cultural projects with an international dimension.
