Discussion of a Ph.D. Thesis in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture

A Ph.D. thesis was discussed in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture / College of Agriculture and Forestry / University of Mosul, for the student (Muhannad Aqeel Ahmed) on Sunday 7/11/2021 in the discussion hall in Al-Hadba’a. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus Al-Allaf (Dean of the College) attended a part of the discussion.Thesis Summary:The first experiment aims to study the effect of spraying with calcium chloride CaCl2 and sodium silicate Na2Sio3 on growth, quantitative and qualitative characteristics, and some physiological fruits disorder of two tomato varieties (Super Queen and Persin). The aim of the second experiment is to the effect of spraying with the element boron and the amino acid proline on the quantitative and qualitative characteristics and some physiological fruit disorder of the tomato Super Queen variety.The most important results of the first experiment: Super Queen cultivar was superior to Pearson cultivar in leaf area cm. Plant-1, while no significant differences were observed between the two cultivars in stem length, number of branches, and percentage of dry matter in leaves. Spraying plants with sodium silicate at a concentration of 0.50% led to a significant increase in the percentage of dry matter and leaf area cm. Plant-1 as compared with the rest of the treatments. All treatments of spraying with calcium chloride and sodium silicate were superior to the control treatment in these two characteristics.More results are available in the thesis………The discussion committee consisted of:
