The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Agricultural Extension and Technology Transfer program at the University of Mosul – College of Agriculture and Forestry is a regular 4-year academic program (structured across 8 academic semesters) with a total of 240 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits. Designed in alignment with the Bologna Process, each ECTS credit corresponds to 25 student workload hours (totaling 6,000 workload hours).
The program provides students with a solid foundation in agricultural and extension sciences, communication, rural development, social leadership, and social statistics, alongside modern technological applications and technology transfer in agriculture. The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge, practical extension field training, laboratory experiments, computer applications, and scientific research. This comprehensive approach develops graduates’ technical competencies and personal skills, enabling them to plan, manage, evaluate, and adapt extension and development programs, thereby serving the community and fostering sustainable agricultural development.
The primary objectives of the Agricultural Extension and Technology Transfer program are to:
- Provide students with comprehensive extension and agricultural education that establishes a strong scientific foundation in extension, social sciences, and modern agricultural technologies, while fostering scientific and analytical thinking and rural problem-solving skills.
- Prepare graduates for successful career paths and postgraduate studies by developing their capability to plan, design, execute, manage, and evaluate extension and development programs and projects in accordance with professional standards and ethics.
- Develop students’ technical and practical competencies through direct field training, laboratory experiments, social surveys, field research, and the effective use of modern technologies and statistical computer software.
- Enhance social communication, leadership, and teamwork skills, enabling graduates to deliver extension sessions and workshops, and effectively manage development teams in multidisciplinary environments.
- Promote concepts of environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and lifelong learning, while producing agricultural extension specialists capable of meeting labor market demands and contributing to sustainable rural and community development.
Upon successful completion of all program requirements, the graduate is awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension and Technology Transfer from the University of Mosul.
This program is classified under Level 6 in the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF), fully aligned with the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).
Admission to the Bachelor of Science program in Agricultural Extension and Technology Transfer is governed by the central admission policies and regulations issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul for secondary school graduates (Scientific / Biological / Agricultural tracks).
To earn the Bachelor’s degree, students must successfully fulfill the following graduation requirements:
- Successfully complete 240 ECTS credits, including all mandatory and elective courses prescribed in the curriculum.
- Achieve the minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) required in accordance with MOHESR and University of Mosul regulations.
- Successfully pass field training, practical extension projects, and the graduation research project.
Recognition of prior learning and academic credit transfer are considered strictly in cases of student transfer or academic equivalence evaluation, in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul.

The program adopts the assessment and grading system established under the Bologna Process at the University of Mosul and MOHESR, balancing continuous formative assessment and final summative evaluation:
- Continuous Assessment (Student Scheduled Workload – SSWL): Includes quizzes, coursework assignments, field reports, seminars, and laboratory/practical session evaluations.
- Final Examination: Comprehensive theoretical and practical examinations conducted at the end of each academic semester.
- Evaluation of graduation research projects and field applications.
- Successful completion of all required academic courses, earning a cumulative total of 240 ECTS credits distributed over eight semesters.
- Achieving the minimum required Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) under the Bologna Process grading regulations.
- Successful completion and defense of the graduation research project and practical field training.
Full-time study over four academic years structured according to the Bologna Process. The study mode emphasizes Student-Centered Learning, integrating theoretical lectures, practical laboratory and field work, interactive workshops, and computer-based statistical and agricultural technology training.
