The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Agricultural Economics at the University of Mosul is a four-year, full-time undergraduate program comprising 240 ECTS credits and delivered in accordance with the Bologna Process. The program is designed to integrate agricultural sciences with economic theory, quantitative analysis, agricultural business, production economics, policy, finance, trade, resource and environmental economics, and modern digital and smart-agriculture applications. The program develops students’ ability to understand agricultural and economic systems, analyze resource-allocation and production decisions, evaluate agricultural projects and policies, conduct statistical and econometric analysis, interpret agricultural markets and prices, and propose practical solutions to agricultural and rural development problems. The curriculum also incorporates agricultural informatics, smart agricultural technologies, research methods, operations research, food security, natural resources, and applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning identified in the Program Learning Outcomes.

Learning is supported through lectures, practical activities, tutorials, seminars, project work, quantitative exercises, research activities, computer-based analysis, and practical/summer training. The program aims to prepare graduates for professional work in public and private agricultural and economic institutions, agricultural businesses, financial and development organizations, research institutions, and postgraduate study.

The curriculum source states that students should complete four weeks of summer internship as part of the requirements for the Bachelor’s degree.

  • Provide students with a comprehensive foundation in agricultural economics, agricultural sciences, economic theory, mathematics, statistics, and quantitative methods.
  • Develop the ability to analyze agricultural production, markets, prices, farm businesses, resources, finance, trade, policy, and rural development using appropriate economic and quantitative approaches.
  • Build practical competence in statistical, econometric, operations-research, and computer-based analysis for evidence-informed agricultural decision-making.
  • Develop the capacity to evaluate agricultural projects, policies, technologies, environmental resources, food-security issues, and sustainable agricultural development alternatives.
  • Prepare graduates for professional practice, teamwork, communication in Arabic and English, ethical decision-making, continuous learning, postgraduate study, and responsible use of modern technologies including artificial intelligence and smart agriculture.

Upon successful completion of all approved program requirements, graduates are awarded the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Agricultural Economics by the University of Mosul.

The program is presented within the structure of the University of Mosul Bologna program model and is aligned with Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF) for the first-cycle Bachelor’s qualification.

Admission to the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Agricultural Economics is governed by the admission regulations and policies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul. Applicants must satisfy the approved admission requirements applicable to the College of Agriculture and Forestry and the Agricultural Economics program.

  • Successful completion of all 240 ECTS credits specified in the approved curriculum.
  • Successful completion of compulsory/basic and core modules included in the program curriculum.
  • Completion of the required practical, project, seminar, research, and training components where applicable.
  • Completion of the required four-week summer internship stated in the curriculum documentation.

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Agricultural Economics is a four-year, full-time undergraduate program delivered through the Bologna Process and comprising 240 ECTS credits.
