Discussion of a Ph.D. Thesis in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture

A Ph.D. thesis was discussed in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture/ College of Agriculture and Forestry / University of Mosul for the student (Khaled Hashem Abdel-Anzi) on Monday, November 13, 2023. Thesis title (study of the biodiversity of trees and their role as biological indicators of pollution within the University of Mosul and assessment of the actual reality of its main roads).

The study aims to evaluate the diversity of trees within the University of Mosul campus and provide special proposals to preserve species and increase their abundance. And assess the efficiency of tree species spread throughout the corridors of the University of Mosul campus in trapping dust and accumulating heavy elements in it. Evaluating the effectiveness of trees as vital indicators of the pollution of some heavy metals on the sides of several roads within the University of Mosul campus, and assessing environmental pollution within the University of Mosul campus by measuring pollution indicators. Evaluating the reality of afforestation of one of the main roads of the University of Mosul, demonstrating the extent to which controls on green paths and road sustainability concepts have been achieved, and developing a proposed design for it.
